Scripture: “But the whole group was startled and frightened, thinking they were seeing a ghost! “Why are you frightened?” he asked. “Why are your hearts filled with doubt?” Luke 24:37-38 NLT
Happy Resurrection Sunday! I hope you guys are having an amazing day :D!! He is risen, He is REAL, and He is among us!! There was a spoken word artist at my church last night and he recited the story of Jesus’ visit to the disciples after His resurrection. I’ve always enjoyed this story because the disciples reaction was genuine and realistic. I mean just think about it...imagine talking about someone who recently passed away and then two seconds later they appear to you saying, “Hey it’s me! Love and miss you already” lol. That would literally scare me to death and I would be joining them in the after life!!!
Jesus is pretty funny because in verse 41 He inquires about food. Now do you really think the true living God was hungry?? I don’t. Jesus healed the sick, revived the dead, and created buffets from nothing when he was alive the FIRST time. The living God doesn’t need physical food. I think he asked for food to calm their anxiety, so they can fully grasp the concept on what just happened. He wasn’t a ghost or a figment of their imagination. He really rose from the dead and He’s a supernatural being! The creator of the universe stood before them and they were astonished. I would be too. The disciples walked with Jesus for three years and witnessed many miracles but I’m sure this solidified their faith in Him. I think they truly believed He was God at that moment.
Then Jesus started teaching them the scriptures again and continued to pour knowledge into the disciples. He was reminding them of the scriptures and proving to them that the prophecy was being fulfilled right before their eyes.
Jesus proceeded to remind them that there is forgiveness for ALL who repent. He’s an impartial God. Salvation is for everyone! After repentance, the Holy Spirit will have a home to reside in you, as you work out your salvation. Christ’s resurrecting Power transfers to us with the power of the Holy Spirit to raise any dead situation. Circumstances will change because His hand is over it. That’s the God we serve.
Have you ever felt like you wished you were there to see all of this happen so that you can believe it? Sometimes I do too. But one time I ran into John 20:29, Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.” You can start from verse 24 for context but let’s focus on verse 29. So Jesus was telling the disciples that the ones that haven’t seen Him but believe are blessed! So we are blessed and far from the curse of the penalty for our sins even though we didn’t witness Him physically on Earth. John 14:15-16 says, “If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.” Based on scripture, Jesus is always with us even though we haven’t seen Him physically as the disciples did.
I am a witness of all he’s done for me. Miracles have happened in my life that only God can do. I’ve prayed and mountains have moved. I know it’s the Holy Spirit advocating for me because I never had those type of encounters before I had my relationship with God. Nevertheless, if you want to experience the power of God in your life, repent & follow Him. I promise it will be the best decision you’ve ever made. If you’re an unbeliever, just try it. What do you have to lose? Jesus’ gift of salvation is for everyone. Just try it….
Prayer: Lord, I thank you for allowing me to experience another Easter Sunday. I repent of my sins and my disobedience towards you. I pray that you will send the Holy Spirit to me so that I can be led into all truth and live a life that worships you in everything I do. Lord, help me to believe in you and to experience your miracles daily. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Until next time,
***Peace & Blessings, xoxo***
